Intern
Deep in the heart of old Appalachia, hidden far from the eyes of mortals, there are ancient, mysterious forces at work. And yeah, every couple of generations they hire an intern to grind through some of the more menial tasks. This is the story of one such intern and trials and tribulations she must face to get through a typical work day in the service of the fae.
This is our fourth film, shot mostly around the Cathy's Creek area in Pisgah National Forest. We initially took a day off at the end of summer, right before school started, and started shooting with no real direction in mind. My daughter suggested the initial concept, but we had only a general idea about where we were going. Still, we had fun exploring our way from one scene to the next. We filmed everything on my phone, a Pixel 4. I was gifted a DJI Osmo Mobile 2 handheld smartphone gimbal, so almost everything was shot from that. Editing was done with Shotcut, an open source video editor. I did the music on Audacity, another open source app. I'm not a musician, or a filmmaker really. Just a kid making castles in the sand, because that's what I have to work with.
